South FFA headed to state

Greensburg — WESTPORT - South Decatur FFA Crops and Forestry Teams have made it to state again this year.
On Thursday, Nov. 17, both Crops and Forestry members competed with a combined number of 34 teams for a chance at state.
High school crop members included: Natalie Smiley, Sam Scranton, and Ashley Hawkins. These ladies placed first in their division. The Junior High crop members: Logan Owens, Will Smiley, and Cecil Richey also had a great night taking home the first place spot. The crops team is coached by Don Hudson.
The high school forestry team consisting of Morgan Tomson, Sarah Horan, Josh Miller, and Tom Weisenbach placed 6th which secured their position for the state contest. The two junior high members competed as individuals and did very well. Justin Bates took home the first place ribbon and Jacob Johnson was right behind him taking home the second place individual ribbon. The forestry team is coached by Elizabeth Werner.
All members will be traveling to the state contest which is held at Purdue on Dec. 10. Congratulations to all team members and good luck at state!
